Zywiec City has very ambitious goals for 2023-2030. City wants to become full of greenery, which will be connected with biggest natural heritage attractions. It is going to exploit tourist and recreational potential of Żywiec Lake, Koszarawa and Soła rivers, Grojec hill range and the Grapa Nature Reserve. City want to become a center for weekend trips and a base for tourism in the Beskids area. Żywiec wish to become a place where you can breathe fresh and clean air, free from smog and pollution, thanks to effective cooperation with neighboring municipalities. City want to stand out for its tidiness and attention for aesthetics of public space.
And how it will do this - by creating and implementing  Development Strategy for Żywiec City   2023-2030.

Why is a city development strategy so important?

The strategy is developed in response to the needs and aspirations of the citizens and to exploit  the potential of the city. It is intended to create new and develop existing tourism products as well as leisure time offers. Added value is making  city's natural and cultural wealth and conditions for creating accommodation, catering and leisure industry offer. At the same time, the strategy is intended to solve problems related to air quality and public space, encourage social and cultural activity, and support entrepreneurship.

Vision for the city after the implementation of strategy

After implementation of new strategy, Żywiec will become a city which attracts tourists and citizens with attractive tourist and recreational offer. The city will be fulfilled with greenery and surrounded by beautiful nature, with access to Żywiec Lake and Beskid Mountains. Żywiec will offer a variety of cultural attractions, events and entertainment, keeping and preserving  its local traditions and heritage. At the same time, it will take care about cleanliness of the air and the aesthetics of public space.

Main goal of the strategy is to create a city which is open to its citizens, involves them in decision-making processes and supports civic ecological and entrepreneurial attitudes at the same time. Żywiec will become an attractive place to live and work, combining qualities of nature with opportunities for professional development.

What are our plans?

The development strategy assumes, a. o.:

•    Development of Sport and recreation activities around Żywiec Lake.
•    Encouraging  for walking in the nature of Grojec Mountain and  Grapa  Nature Reserve.
•    Żywiec cycling infrastructure development.
•    Development of a cultural tourist offer.
•    Pro-environmental measures and the fight against pollution.
•    Improving the aesthetics of public space and infrastructure.
•    Public services adapted to different age groups.
•    Initiatives and urban space solutions for young people.
•    Support for senior citizens and care services.
•    Increasing accessibility for people with special needs.
•    Business and job development and young graduates encouragement.

Consultation for Żywiec citizens

Żywiec City invites all citizens to active participation in shaping its future, by taking part in   strategic consultation. From 13th of September to 17th of October 2023, everyone have an opportunity to submit their comments and ideas for Żywiec City development strategy. Proposals can be sent by post, by filling in online form or by delivering to Żywiec Municipal Office.

We are making available 3 forms for submitting your improvements to the strategy draft.

Form 1: Comment form available to download, published on the Municipality website: https://www.bip.zywiec.pl/item/7528. Completed/filled  document should be sent on the following e-mail address: sekretariat@zywiec.pl;  by post to: Żywiec Municipal Office, Rynek Street no. 2, 34-300 Żywiec  or delivered directly to the Żywiec Municipality register office.

Form 3: Comments can be submitted during a consultation meeting which will take place on 27th  of September 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m at the Municipal Environmental Centre/Session Hall of the Żywiec Municipal Office.
